Novel Coronavirus Test Kits Donated by China Arrives in Latvia

Under the coordination of the Chinese Embassy in Latvia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Health of Latvia, Mammoth Foundation in Shenzhen, China donated to Latvia 20 BGI's novel coronavirus testing kits (1000 tests). The kit can issue results within 3 hours. The kits have been delivered to Riga, the capital of Latvia and on April 17th were handed over to the Riga East University Hospital, the designated hospital for the novel coronavirus pneumonia treatment. Chief Laboratory specialist of the hospital, Dr. Sergejs Nikisins, received the donated materials on behalf of Latvia, and thanked the Mammoth Fund and BGI for their friendly donations during this difficult time, emphasizing that this batch of test materials will play an important role in the fight against the COVID-19 epidemic in Latvia.

According to the data released by the Latvian Center for Disease Control and Prevention on April 17th, 12:00 local time, a total of 32837 people in Latvia had been tested for novel coronavirus, and 682 cases of novel coronavirus pneumonia patients were confirmed.
