On 23 January, the Chinese Embassy in Latvia and the China Cultural Centre in Riga jointly hosted the “Happy Spring Festival——Melodies of China” New Year Concert and the Spring Festival Reception for 2025. The Wenying Jiangnan Sizhu ensemble from Zhejiang Conservatory of Music showcased classic Chinese and Latvian music, offering an artistic gala integrating the two countries’ cultural elements.
At the reception, Ambassador Tang Songgen addressed that the recent inscription of the Chinese Spring Festival in UNESCO's Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage signifies that traditional Chinese festival has become a shared cultural heritage of humanity. The global celebration of the Chinese New Year vividly embodies the concept of a community with a shared future for mankind. He extended best wishes for happiness, peace, and prosperity to all friends in Latvia for the Year of the Snake.
All participants were immersed in the warm, friendly, festive, and harmonious atmosphere. They highly commended traditional and evolving Chinese culture, expressed their warm wishes for the Chinese New Year, and envisioned a promising future for friendship of the two countries and peoples.
