From 00:00 on 30 November, 2024 to 24:00 on 31 December, 2025 Beijing time, citizens holding ordinary passports of Latvia travelling to China for the purpose of business, tourism, family or friends visits, exchanges and transit with the duration not exceeding 30 days, are eligible for visa free entry.
Individuals who do not meet the visa-free conditions mentioned above still need to apply for visa before entering China.
In order to facilitate the visa application process, the Chinese Embassy in Latvia hereby reiterates the following application procedures (31 March 2025 update) for applying for a visa to China:
1. Preparing Application Materials
Before applicants start the visa application, please check the main purpose of your visit to China and the most appropriate visa category for your application. Then applicants shall prepare appropriate documents (see the requirements for Chinese visa application attached below for details). 2. Submitting Online Visa Application
As the first step, applicants shall fill out visa application forms and upload application materials online at the China Online Visa Processing System through https://consular.mfa.gov.cn/VISA.
After the application is reviewed and approved by the Embassy, appointment could be made online.
3. Scheduling an Appointment
Visa applicants shall log in China Online Visa Processing System to schedule an appointment, for submitting their passport in-person. It is advised to make an appointment at least 24 hours in advance. No need for print out of any application materials submitted online (There are several exceptions requiring original documents. Please read this notice carefully http://cs.mfa.gov.cn/wgrlh/lhqz/lhqzjjs/201311/t20131101_961583.shtml and bring along any original documents specially required).
Note: Diplomatic and Service passport holders are exempted from scheduling an appointment. Delegation applying for official visa at the invitation of the Government of China can make reservation directly through email.
