On September 19, Ambassador Tang Songgen attended the opening ceremony of the “Oriental Elegance: A Peach Blossom Paradise” art exhibition jointly organized by the Tianjin Museum and the Riga Art Nouveau Center, and delivered a speech. The event was attended by visitors of all walks in Latvia.

In his remarks, Ambassador Tang noted that the Riga Art Nouveau Center enjoys a world-class reputation. This joint exhibition, featuring traditional Chinese paintings, calligraphy, and porcelain from the Tianjin Museum collection, opens a dialogue of artistic exchange across time and space. As a Latvian proverb says, “Art is the language of the soul.” This exhibition is not only a display of art but also a friendly dialogue between Eastern and Western civilizations, promoting mutual learning and cultural exchange between China and Latvia, as well as China and Europe.

Guests at the exhibition praised the profoundness of China’s outstanding traditional culture and the exquisite craftsmanship of Chinese artistic creation.
