On 23rd September, Chinese Embassy in Latvia held a reception in celebration of the 76th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. Ambassador Tang Songgen delivered a speech. About 300 guests representing different sectors in Latvia and overseas Chinese attended the event. 

Amb. Tang highlighted China's achievements in the past 76 years, and said that China is continuing to promote Chinese modernization through high-standard opening up and high-quality development in pursuit of building a community with a shared future for humanity. This year marks the 80th anniversary of the victory of the Chinese People’s War of Resistance Against Japanese Aggression and the World Anti-Fascist War and the 80th anniversary of the founding of the United Nations. In addressing global issues and challenges, Chinese President Xi Jinping proposed Global Governance Initiative, providing strategic guidance for building a more just and equitable global governance system. Together, China and Latvia could continuously enhance mutual trust, enrich cooperation and benefit the two peoples.

During the reception, Chinese and Latvian artists jointly sang the national anthems of the two countries, and the Chinese artists performed Peking Opera and acrobatics. The guests visited the picture exhibition of Chinese modernization, spoke highly of China's development achievements in the new era, and presented their compliments to China on the National Day.
