On August 23, the 2025 "Ambassador Cup" China-Latvia Bilingual Bridge Competition was held at the Chinese Culture Center in Riga. Ambassador Tang Songgen attended and delivered a speech. Chinese and Latvian teenagers participated in the competition.

Ambassador Tang stated that language is the essential element of national culture and a bridge for the exchange of civilizations. In 2023, President Xi Jinping proposed the Global Civilization Initiative, dedicated to promoting exchanges and mutual learning among civilizations and allowing the world's garden of civilizations to flourish in diversity. Both China and Latvia have rich cultural heritages. We hope the young generation will ‌carry forward the civilization, promote cultural exchange and contribute to the friendship between the two countries.

After the competition, Ambassador Tang presented awards to the winners.
