On July 24, 2025, the Chinese Embassy in Latvia held an Open Day. Ambassador Tang Songgen attended and delivered a speech.

Ambassador Tang stated that China and Latvia are thousands of miles apart geographically, while their peoples enjoy close connectivity in many aspects. This year marks the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between China and the European Union. Over the past 50 years, China-EU practical cooperation has achieved fruitful results. Recently, Chinese and EU leaders met in Beijing and emphasized the need to uphold mutual respect, open cooperation, and the practice of multilateralism to provide greater stability and certainty for the world. I hope the young generation will strengthen and deepen China-Latvia and China-EU friendship.
