We have noticed that the Latvian State Security Service(VDD) has published its annual report on 2020. As to the China-related content in the report, I would like to point out that China pursues an independent foreign policy of peace, upholds the principle of non-interference in other countries’ internal affairs and is willing to develop friendly cooperation with each country in the principles of mutual respect, equal treatment and win-win cooperation.

This year marks the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China(CPC). Over the past 100 years, CPC consistently put people first and has led the Chinese people to make great achievements recognized by the whole world. The foundation of CPC lies in the people and its long-term governance is based on the people’s wholehearted support.

Facts have demonstrated that China’s development brings opportunities and contribution, instead of challenges or threats. The relevant Latvian institution should discard ideological bias and Cold War mindset, look at China’s development and the bilateral normal exchanges in an objective and rational way, and meet the Chinese side halfway by doing more things conducive to mutual trust and bilateral cooperation, not the opposite.
