Applicants holding Latvian Passport who travel to HK for sightseeing, visiting relatives or business tour can enjoy a visa free period for visit not exceeding 90 days. However, if any one of the following conditions is met, applicants shall make Hong Kong visa application through the Chinese embassy in Latvia or the Immigration Department of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR):
(1) Holder of Latvian Passport who intend to stay in Hong Kong for more than 90 days;
(2) Holder of Latvian Alien Passport;
(3) Applicants visit HK for the purpose of employment, residence, performance or holding exhibition;
(4) Applicants visit HK for the purpose of study or career training.

II. Chinese citizens visit Hong Kong
1. Transit
(1) Chinese passport holders who are in transit through Hong Kong from another country, region or territory may be granted a stay of 7 days without the prior need to obtain an entry permit, with the condition of possession of valid Chinese passport and confirmed onward air tickets for the overseas journey. If Chinese passport holders will go for mainland China or Macau via Hong Kong, onward air tickets are not compulsory.
Chinese passport holders who are transit through Hong Kong from mainland China to another country, region or territory may be granted a stay of 7 day without the prior need to obtain an entry permit with the condition of possession of valid visa for the destination and confirmed onward air tickets for the overseas journey.
(2) If a Chinese citizen intends to stay in Hong Kong for more than 7 days, he or she shall apply a visa from the Chinese Embassy in Latvia for single entry/double entries with the validity of 3 month and duration of 30 days taking his/her schedule into consideration.
2. Visit
(1) Chinese Citizen can apply for Hong Kong Entry Permit for short term visit to HK, no matter what kind of passport he or she holds.
(2) Chinese Citizen who visits Hong Kong for any one of the following purposes regardless of how long he or she intends to stay in Hong Kong, shall apply for Hong Kong Entry Permit to the Immigration Department of the HKSAR or the Chinese Embassy in Latvia:
* For working, performance or holding exhibition;
* For study or career training;
* For employment or residence.

(3) Holders of Travel Documents issued by the People's Republic of China should apply for Hong Kong Entry Permit prior to transit or visit to Hong Kong.
III. Residents of Taiwan visit Hong Kong
1. Residents of Taiwan holding a valid "The Mainland Travel Permits for Taiwan Residents" may enter Hong Kong as visitor and stay for up to 7 days irrespective of whether they are transiting Hong Kong to/from the Mainland or coming to Hong Kong for visit, provided the normal immigration requirements are met.
2. Residents of Taiwan living overseas who don't possess "The Mainland Travel Permits for Taiwan Residents" and would like to visit HKSAR should apply for Travel Document of People's Republic of China, and then apply through the Chinese Embassy for Hong Kong Entry Permit for single entry/double entries with the validity of 3 month and duration of 14 days taking his/her schedule into consideration.

IV. Checklist of forms and documentation to be submitted
1. Applicant should truly and completely fill in the form of "Application for Entry for Visit/Transit in Hong Kong (ID 1003A)", and applicant's sponsor should complete the form of "Application for Entry for Visit/Transit (Sponsor) in Hong Kong (ID 1003B)". The forms can be downloaded from the website of the Immigration Department of HKSAR :

2. One recent 2-inche, bareheaded and full faced color photo (affixed on page 1 of the application form ID 1003A).
3. Additional documentation to be submitted due to different purpose of visit:
(1) For tourism visit:
Photocopy of hotel reservation, receipt of joining a tour group to Hong Kong or itinerary, etc.
(2) For transit:
Photocopy of onward flight itinerary to next destination.
(3) For business visit:
Photocopy of the material of proof of the proposed business visit to Hong Kong, e.g. letter issued by the applicant's employer to confirm his/her proposed business activities in Hong Kong, invitation letter issued by a local company, invitation letter issued by a trade body to confirm the applicant's attendance at trade fairs and exhibitions, etc.
(4) For family visit:
Photocopy of the material of proof of relationship with the local sponsor.
(5) Documents to be submitted by the Sponsor:
For application in which the sponsor is a company
i. "Application for Entry for Visit/Transit (Sponsor) in Hong Kong (ID 1003B)"
ii. Photocopy of Business Registration Certificate
For application in which the sponsor is an individual
i. "Application for Entry for Visit/Transit (Sponsor) in Hong Kong (ID 1003B)"
ii. Photocopy of the sponsor's Hong Kong identity card or travel documents (for non-permanent resident of the HKSAR)
(6) Other documents: Other documents may be needed upon consular office's request.
V. Processing Time
Regular processing time: 5 working days
Urgent processing time: 4 working days
Extra-urgent processing time: 2 working days (NO one-day service available)
It will take approximately one month for application that needs to be transferred to the Immigration Department of HKSAR, under which circumstances no urgent or extra urgent services available.
VI. Fee and payment
For Regular service, 25 Euro is charged for each visa;
For Urgent service, additional 21 Euro will be charged for each visa;
For Extra-urgent service, additional 31 Euro will be charged for each visa.
* For application that needs to be transferred to the Immigration Department of HKSAR for further processing, applicant needs to pay additional 25 Euros of telecommunication fee when submitting the application.
* All the payments need to be made in cash only.
VII. Important Notice
1. The application form shall be filled in truly, clearly and completely and signed by the applicants. Any false or illegibility may lead to postpone or denial of the application.
2. Consular officer will make decision regarding visa case by case.
