Ambassador Hu Yeshun met with Mr. Rolands Broks,the New Minister of Education and Science

    On December 9, 2010, Mr. Hu Yeshun, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China in Latvia met with Honourable Mr. Rolands Broks, Misiter of Education and Science of the Republic of Latvia. First of all, Ambassador Hu expressed his congratulations to Mr. Rolands Broks for taking up his new office as Minister. Both sides reviewed the bilateral cooperation and achievements in the field of education, and had high opinions of the visit paid to China by the previous Minister of Education and Science as an official member of President Valdis Zatlers's delegation and the Agreement on Mutual Recognition of Higher Education Qualifications and Degrees Between the Governments of the People's Republic of China and the Republic of Latvia, and expressed that the signing of the Agreement has laid an excellent foundation for the further expansion of the educational exchanges between the two countries. Mr. Rolands Broks had a positive assessment of the importance of the publication of the Chinese-Latvian Dictionary and expressed his thanks for the scholarships provided by the Chinese side to support some of the Latvian students to study in China. Ambassador Hu expressed his gratitude to the Ministry for the consistent assistance to the Chinese teaching in Latvia and wished to work closely with the Latvian side during the Minister's tenure, with the setting up of the Confucius Institute in the University of Latvia as the turning point, to push to make greater progresses in the bilateral educational cooperation. Both sides exchanged views extensively on the furtherance of the expansion and deepening of the bilateral educational cooperation in the coming years.
