Ambassador Hu Yeshun donated educational equipments to Riga Secondary School #68

      On November 9, 2010, Mr. Hu Yeshun, Ambassador of the People's Republic of China donated some educational equipments such as computers, printers etc. to Riga Secondary School #68. Ms. Larisa Concharenko, Head Master together with more than one hundred teachers and students of the school attended the handing over ceremony.

Ambassador Hu expressed his appreciation to the School for opening Chinese learning curriculum starting from this semester. And he said at the present the educational and cultural exchanges have become a strong link of friendship between the two peoples of China and Latvia. Along with the ever expanding of the reform and opening up of China, the exchanges between the two peoples of China and Latvia require more and more talents who are familiar with the languages and cultures of each other. H. E. President Valdis Zatlers' recent visit to China and his participation in the Latvian National Day activities at the Shanghai World Expo 2010 has set off the Latvia fever in Shanghai, and the long-standing Chinese civilization has aroused the interest of the Latvian people of learning the Chinese language with each passing day. Ambassador Hu encouraged the students at the school to actively learn the Chinese culture and become envoys of the people to people exchanges of the two countries. He said that the Embassy of China in Latvia will help the school in its power so as to enable the school to conduct the Chinese teaching activities. He welcomed the teachers and students of the school to participate in the relevant cultural exchanging activities organized by the Chinese side.

Ms. Larisa Concharenko, Head Master expressed her sincere thanks to the strong supports provided by the Embassy to the School and said the relevant donations will give a big hand to the school to strengthen its educational quality, especially improve its Chinese teaching. The students feel very much encouraged by the visit of Ambassador Hu. And the Ambassador's encouragement will surely spur the students on to further efforts of learning the Chinese language.

Some students of the school gave lively performances in Chinese on the occasion.

Riga Secondary School #68 is one of the three middle schools in Latvia offering the Chinese teaching curriculum.
