First group of Latvian Olympic athletes depart for Beijing

The first group of 20 Latvian athletes departed for Beijing on Wednesday for the Olympic Winter Games Beijing 2022.

Heading to Beijing is Latvia's entire luge team of 10 athletes and five coaches, six cross-country skiers, three skeleton sliders and five coaches, and one short track speed skater.

The second group of Latvian Olympians, due to leave for Beijing on January 31, includes Alpine skiers and an athlete for the Nordic combined competition. The third group including the Latvian ice hockey team is scheduled to fly to Beijing on February 2.

The Latvian delegation includes 57 athletes and 43 coaches, as well as officials and support personnel, competing in the disciplines of speed skating, biathlon, bobsleigh, skeleton, luge, figure skating, short track speed skating, cross-country skiing, Alpine skiing, Nordic combined and ice hockey.
